Spicy !!! SOTO AYAM


Nothing beats a pleasant bowl of soto ayam, when the spirits are flagging.

The essence of a pleasant soto ayam lies in its soup base first, then the condiments that come together to make the scrumptious dish.

One of famous dish in Indonesian is Soto Ayam (Soto for Javanese), you can find Soto Ayam anywhere in Indonesia in Java Island. Fundamentally ask " I need Soto Ayam " then people around you will be happy to assist to to get it .

Soto ayam is a yellow spicy chicken soup with nasi empit (compressed rice that is then cut in to small cakes) or ketupat or vermicelli or noodles, often present in Indonesia, Singapore & Malaysia.

Turmeric is added as of its ingredients to get yellow chicken broth. Besides chicken & vermicelli, it is also served with hard-boiled eggs, slices of fried potatoes, Chinese celery leaves, & fried shallots. Sometimes, slices of Lontong (compressed rice roll) are also added. Occasionally, people will add koya, a powder of mixed fried garlic with prawn crackers or bitter Sambal (orange colored). Krupuk are a common topping.

Different regions have their own variation of this dish, for example:
  • Soto Ambengan, originated from Ambengan, Surabaya. Soto Ambengan is famous for its scrumptious   koya topping.
  • Soto Banjar
  • Soto Kudus, originated from Kudus, Central Java instead of chicken it use buffalo for the meat.
  • Soto Medan
  • Soto Madura
